I recently had the opportunity to try out the Zigma air purifier. I’ve now been using it for a few weeks, so I wanted to do a full review, so readers know how great the product is.
Air purifiers can be a bit tricky because there are so many options. It’s tough to know where to begin or which purifiers are going to be worth the money.
Add to that the fact that many top brands of air purifiers are incredibly expensive, and you may find yourself struggling to make a buying decision.
With those things in mind, you might want to skip the bigger brands and go with a Zigma.
I’ll provide you with details below as far as my experience, features, and things I like in particular about this model of air purifier.
Key Features of the Zigma Air Purifier
- The Aerio-300 is suitable for large spaces
- Cleans up to 1580 square feet in an hour
- Cleans 840 square feet in 30 minutes
- Gives you fresh indoor air four times an hour
- Three levels of purification
- Sleep mode
- Built-in negative ion generator
- Remote control with the Zigma app, Voice Control with Siri, Alexa, or Google Assistant
The Basics
With the Zigma air purifier, which is available on Amazon, you can opt for the more expensive option that has smart-home capabilities, or you can go with a less expensive option that doesn’t sync with your smart home technology but has all the other features with the smart-tech equipped purifier.
The Zigma Air Purifier model Aerio-300 is for large rooms.
I used it in two different spaces, and I feel like it did well.
First, I used it in my open-concept living/dining/kitchen area. It helped with cooking smells which is one of the biggest reasons I wanted an air purifier.
I also moved it into my bedroom to try it there.
My bedroom is significantly smaller, but my en suite bathroom tends to make the space feel and smell musty because of moisture.
The Zigma air purifier has completely taken care of that issue.
I leave it on while I sleep, and the sleep mode function really is incredibly quiet. You can’t even tell it’s on.
Features of the Zigma Air Purifier
There are some pretty great features of this purifier that you typically only see with more expensive brands.
For example, there’s a built-in negative ion generator. That means that negative ions are released into the air of your home, and they absorb dust. You’ll notice when you start using the Zigma, the air just somehow feels cleaner. It’s one of those things you have to try to really see what I mean.
Another great feature is the ability to check the air quality in your home. There are sensors that measure air quality at any given time using artificial intelligence. You can see if the ring light is blue, your air quality is excellent. If it’s green, your quality is good, orange indicates moderate and red is poor.
There are three levels of filtration, which again was very important to me in an air purifier.
- The Pre-Filter: We have two dogs in our house, so this was a great feature of the Zigma. It removes those large particles from your home, including pet fur and dander, as well as fibers.
- True HEPA Filter: This filter takes out nearly 100% of dust and pollen, and living in East Tennessee means pollen is a big problem for us. It also removes anything as small as 0.3 microns.
- Carbon filter: The third layer of filtration with this air purifier is the carbon filter, which, again, was huge for me. The carbon filter will take out those odors you don’t want lingering in your home like kitchen smells. We cook a lot so this is something we deal with quite a bit. When cooking and running the Zigma, we found that it took out nearly all the odors fairly quickly.
Benefits of a True HEPA Filter
If you’re comparing air purifiers, looking for a true HEPA filter is a big deciding factor. This kind of filtration traps very small and harmful particles, including even dust mites. It forces air through fine mesh.
A HEPA filter on an air purifier prevents tiny pollutants from recirculating into the air you breathe.
Among HEPA filters, you should look for one that’s a “true” HEPA, as is the case with Zigma.
This means that the filter has gone through rigorous testing to ensure that it really does trap 99.97% of particles that are 0.3 microns in diameter. A HEPA filter that’s not marked as “true” hasn’t gone through this testing.
Benefits of a Carbon Filter
Along with the true HEPA filter, a carbon filter is what’s going to take out additional contaminants that can be harmful to your health. They can trap VOCs and benzene, household chemicals, mold spores, and dust and lint. They also eliminate bad odors so you have fresh, clean and healthy indoor air.
The best option is to make sure an air purifier has both the true HEPA and carbon filters. If you have allergies, you’ll especially find there are significant benefits that come with this combination.
When contaminated air goes through a carbon filter, it’s absorbed, and then what leaves is pure, clean air. When combined with a carbon filter, a true HEPA filter can have better and longer-lasting performance.
What About the Zigma Smart WiFi Air Purifier?
If you want a tech-enabled air purifier, the same Aerio-300 also comes in a version with smart home features.
You can use the accompanying app and connect your air purifier to your smart home assistants like Siri or Alexa. There are features available like scheduling, and you can set your app to remind you when it’s time to replace your filter. You can also use scene-setting features and share devices with your family.
When you operate this version of the Zigma Air Purifier, you can get air-quality reports on your phone. There’s also an automatic mode that can adjust your air purifier based on what’s needed for your air environment. This improves the efficiency and saves energy.
Child Lock Feature
The child lock feature on this purifier is good if you have both children and pets. If the power is on, but you have the child lock function enabled, the power supply is automatically cut if anything happens to the purifier.
Final Thoughts—My Favorite Features of the Zigma Air Purifier
This is a great product, and it has a high-end design and construction. I recommend it, and I’ve been continuously using it since I got mine.
I like the look and style of it. It’s very modern, and it fits in well in my home.
I also like that you can use the night mode which is quiet and peaceful, and I’ve used it many times.
Other features that are great, at least for me personally, include the true HEPA filter combined with the carbon filter and the option to change the fan speed to low or high.
I haven’t used any of the smart home technology, so I can’t speak about that, but I’m sure it’s great too if that’s something you’re interested in.
I can also say confidently that I think the Zigma will purify large spaces as it promises.
