Total War Pre Workout is from the Redcon company. It’s available in different flavors, like Sour Gummy Bear.

It’s a third-party tested pre-workout, and it’s free of banned substances. The combination of stimulants and focus factors, as well as nitric oxide compounds, means it’s an all-in-one pre-workout supplement.

You may also notice boosts in your overall endurance and energy levels with this pre-workout supplement.

When you buy a tub, it has 30 servings. According to the Total War Pre Workout instructions, you should assess your tolerance when you first start this supplement. That means take ½ scoop before you train. Then, once you have a good baseline as far as how much you should take, you can regularly start using one scoop with anywhere from four to six ounces of water, 30 minutes before your workout. You shouldn’t take more than one scoop in a 24-hour period.

According to Redcon, the company that makes Total War, you’ll feel like you could stay in the gym forever when you take this supplement.

What is a Preworkout Supplement?

If you’re new to pre-workout supplements, which are also referred to as pre-workout supplements and pre-workout supplements, the goal of taking them is to give you energy so that you can boost your workout. These supplements contain a combination of ingredients to improve not only athletic performance but also energy levels and, often, your mental focus.

Pre-workouts usually come as a powder that you mix with water and take anywhere from an hour to half an hour before you plan to workout.

Some of the most common ingredients in a pre-workout supplement are amino acids, creatine, caffeine and B vitamins.

Total War Pre Workout Ingredients

While oftentimes, the ingredients in a pre-workout supplement look similar, it’s good to go over each individually.

The following is a brief description of the ingredients in Total War Pre Workout.

Caffeine

Caffeine is one of the most common ingredients in all pre-workout supplements, and unless the product explicitly says that it’s caffeine-free, it’s very likely in it. Total War does have caffeine, so if you are sensitive to it, be aware of this.

Each serving has 320 milligrams of active caffeine.

There are two different types of caffeine included in Total War Pre Workout.

The first is 250 mg of caffeine anhydrous, which is dehydrated caffeine that helps with wakefulness and it promotes alertness.

There are also 100 milligrams of something called di-caffeine malate, which is a slow-release type of caffeine, to help prevent a crash. It gives you a smoother source of energy.

Caffeine can help improve your performance when you’re lifting heavy, and if you take it around one hour before you plan to work out, you’ll experience peak levels in your bloodstream right when you get started. Caffeine can also help you if you want more cardio endurance. For example, you may be able to get in an extra mile on the treadmill with a caffeine boost.

Caffeine is thermogenic too, which means it can boost your metabolism and help you burn maximum calories when you work out.

Citrulline Malate

Redcon Total War Pre Workout includes an ingredient called citrulline malate. Each serving has six grams. Citrulline malate can improve nitric oxide levels, which then boosts blood flow and also brings nutrients to your muscles. This is how the so-called “pump” effect is created.

Citrulline is an amino acid.

When you take citrulline malate, it can increase vasodilation, which means your veins and arteries widen. This helps reduce blood pressure while increasing blood flow.

After you take citrulline malate, it’s converted to arginine, an amino acid.

Since citrulline malate can improve blood flow and nitric oxide levels, it can help increase protein synthesis, which is necessary for muscle building. It may also help prevent the breakdown of amino acids, further increasing its muscle-building benefits.

There are two types of citrulline used in supplements. One is citrulline malate, which is what’s in Total War. The other is L-citrulline. The malate component in the Total War citrulline helps with energy production.

Citrulline is also thought to increase growth hormone after exercising, and since it increases blood flow, it may help with erectile dysfunction.

There have been several studies showing the benefits of citrulline malate in weight training.

For example, in one study, participants were able to do 54% more reps when they took citrulline malate as compared to study participants who took a placebo. It can decrease fatigue and muscle soreness too.

Based on the evidence currently available, citrulline supplements are thought to be fairly safe, although you should talk to a health care professional before taking anything. You should also follow the supplement instructions carefully so that you don’t take too much.

Beta-Alanine

Beta-alanine is the natural form of alanine, an amino acid that has the potential to reduce fatigue and improve muscle endurance. Beta-alanine gives that tingle you may feel after taking a pre-workout supplement.

One of the big benefits of beta-alanine is that it can reduce the accumulation of lactic acid in your muscles while you’re working out, improving your performance and perhaps your overall results. When lactic acid builds up in your muscles, it reduces the ability of them to contract, causing fatigue. Beta-alanine is a buffer against this effect.

Studies have shown beta-alanine can increase your time to exhaustion, which means that you can work out for longer periods. For example, there was a study of cyclists that found four weeks of beta-alanine supplementation increased their work completed by 13%.

In weight training, beta-alanine can increase your muscle endurance and boost your training volume. It tends to be most effective when used before high-intensity workouts.

Another study showed beta-alanine could improve body composition. The study indicated that taking a beta-alanine study for just three weeks increased participants’ lean muscle mass.

Additionally, beta-alanine may have antioxidant properties, and it could potentially improve nitric oxide production.

Taurine

A naturally-occurring amino acid, there is one gram of taurine in each serving of Total War Pre Workout.

Amino acids are often described as the building blocks of protein and protein helps you grow muscles and also repairs tissues. Taurine is naturally found in meat and fish, as well as being included in many energy and pre-workout supplements.

Taurine helps promote a healthy metabolism. It can also have benefits for digestive health.

Taurine can improve heart health, and the muscles have high levels of taurine. It’s beneficial to ensure optimal muscle function, and it prevents muscle damage.

Taurine may help improve exercise performance, and it can improve diabetes markers.

Agmatine Sulfate

Agmatine is included in the Total War Pre Workout supplement. There’s one milligram of agmatine per serving. Agmatine is a derivative of arginine, an amino acid.

Agmatine is thought to improve athletic performance, and it also has potential cognitive benefits. For example, it can help improve stress resiliency and mood.

It’s included in the Total War Pre Workout supplement primarily to improve focus and concentration during workouts.

Some animal studies as well as a few small studies in humans, have shown agmatine supplements can help with symptoms of anxiety and depression.

Agmatine can help stimulate the production of luteinizing hormone or LH, which increases testosterone and, as such, may promote muscle growth and athletic performance.

In animal studies, agmatine reduced weight gain and increased fat burning and muscle mass.

Juniper Berry Extract

Total War Pre Workout drink and powder often include juniper berry extract. Juniper berries are high in important vitamins and nutrients like vitamin C. Vitamin C plays a role in blood vessel function, immune health and collagen synthesis.

Juniper berries have antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties, and they may be beneficial to people with diabetes. In traditional medicine, juniper berries were used as a treatment for diabetes.

Juniper berries may improve heart health and reduce heart disease risk factors, and this extract has antifungal and antibacterial activity.

Green Tea Extract

Green tea extract is a very common ingredient in a lot of pre-workout supplements, including Total War Pre Workout.

Green tea extract is a natural source of caffeine. It’s packed with antioxidants, which promote heart, brain, and liver health. Antioxidants might even reduce the risk of cancer.

Green tea extract has been shown to improve task performance and brain function.

It can also help with weight loss by enhancing thermogenesis. Thermogenesis is a process in which your body burns calories to produce heat and digest food. Green tea, through thermogenesis, can help make your body more effective at burning calories.

In one study of 14 people taking a green tea extract combination before each meal, participants burned 179 more calories on average in the following 24 hours after taking it.

Green tea extract could reduce inflammation caused by liver diseases like non-alcoholic fatty liver disease.

Green tea extract is also a popular supplement to improve both exercise recovery and performance.

It can delay muscle fatigue and reduce cellular damage.

In a study of 35 men, using green tea extract combined with strength training for four weeks improved their antioxidant protection.

Naringin

Naringin is derived from grapefruit skin as well as orange skin.

Naringin is considered a powerful antioxidant that can improve cardiovascular health. Naringin supplements are also good for metabolic function.

A lot of people find naringin helps them lose extra weight.

Bioperine

Bioperine can be an important addition to many supplements, which is why we’re happy to see it in Total War Pre Workout.

Bioperine comes from the active compounds of black pepper.

It is piperine, which enhances the bioavailability of nutritional supplements meaning they’re better absorbed and then used by your body.

Theobroma Cacao

Theobroma cacao is a type of cacao. Cacao is a nutritional supplement high in antioxidants known as flavanols.

Flavanols can provide heart protection and reduce the risk of heart disease.

Cacao can improve blood flow, reduce blood pressure and lower the risk of dementia. It’s good for cognitive function in general.

How to Choose a Pre-Workout Supplement

If You’re considering taking Total War Pre Workout, you might also be wondering in general how to choose the right pre-workout supplement for your needs.

The goal of taking any pre-workout supplement is to optimize your body mentally and physically for your workout. You want a supplement that will deliver a combination of focus and energy.

Pre-workouts are often divided into two main categories. There are products with stimulants and ones without.

Most pre-workout supplements with stimulants include caffeine. Some might also include ingredients like yohimbine or guarana.

If you are sensitive to caffeine, workout at night, or simply don’t prefer a stimulant ingredient, there are options for that as well but Total War is not stimulant-free.

Unlike some other workout-related supplements, typically, the goal of a pre-workout supplement isn’t to actually build muscle. It’s to optimize your body to build muscle and work out as hard as you’re capable of doing.

If you’re just going to do a light workout, you probably don’t need to take a pre-workout supplement ahead of time, but if you’re going to lift or do high-intensity interval training, a pre-workout can be a good option.

Some people feel jittery after they take a pre-workout supplement. You might enjoy that feeling, but for other people, it’s unnerving.

If you’re someone who does tend to get jittery when you take a pre-workout, you might look for a supplement with an ingredient like L-theanine. Total War doesn’t have L-theanine, but this ingredient can smooth out the energy boost you get from caffeine.

Does Total War Pre Workout Have Any Side Effects?

After going over the research and specific ingredients of Total War Pre Workout, there aren’t any major side effects that we could find. With that being said, everyone is going to react to certain ingredients differently, and especially caffeine and stimulants.

Total War Pre Workout side effects are similar to other pre-workout side effects and may include nausea or headache.

You might experience diarrhea or insomnia.

If you have insomnia from a pre-workout supplement, you either need to take it further from your usual bedtime or perhaps cut your dosage down.

If you’re worried about diarrhea from your pre-workout, be mindful of certain ingredients including Yohimbe, magnesium, taurine, and arginine, several of which are found in Total War. You might be able to avoid some of the gastrointestinal side effects of a pre-workout supplement by drinking plenty of water before, during and after using it. It will help dilute the supplement’s ingredients somewhat. That helps avoid a paste forming in your GI system which can lead to diarrhea and other GI symptoms.
